Regularly scheduled checkups

We will educated on dental health.

Maintaining a regular dental check up schedule will ensure any small dental problems are identified and treated before they can turn into big painful and expensive problems. So how regularly should you go in for these checkups?

A good rule is once every six months providing that you haven’t experienced any pain or discomfort anywhere around your jaw line or teeth. This way Dr. Alidadi can check tooth decay, gum disease, TMJ problems, lesions and other abnormalities.

Digital x-rays and intraoral camera

Checkups and New Patients – White Plains Family Dental

We use digital x-rays which put out far less radiation than conventional x-rays.

In addition to low-dose digital X-rays, Dr. Alidadi takes photos of the inside of your mouth with her intraoral camera. Dr. Alidadi is able to see instant images of your teeth and gums on her monitor and can show you exactly what she sees.

DIAGNOdent laser cavity detection

DIAGNOdent utilizes a precision laser scanning system. DIAGNOdent scans your teeth in order to measure the fluorescence within each tooth’s structure. This enables Dr. Alidadi to identify where there may be cavities developing in the small spaces between, on, and around your teeth. So with DIAGNOdent Dr. Alidadi can catch tooth decay at an earlier stage, before the tooth is destroyed from the inside out, and help prevent the need for more extensive procedures in the future.

Periodontal (gum) exam

Checkups and New Patients – White Plains Family Dental

Dr. Alidadi will help educate you on how to best preserve your oral health.

Gum disease is the primary cause of tooth loss. With her periodontal exam, or periodontal charting, Dr. Alidadi will determine the state of health of your gums and how much, if any gum disease treatment is needed.

TMJ and bite exam

A temporomandibular joint that’s out of place and misaligned can cause a clicking or popping jaw, headaches or a poor bite. A poor bite can cause problems in eating or in the wearing away of your teeth. Dr. Alidadi checks your temporomandibular joint to find out if it needs any adjustment and your bite to see if it’s properly aligned.

Oral cancer screening

Dr. Alidadi performs a visual oral cancer exam on every new patient who comes into her office. An oral cancer screening can detect a problem before it has a chance to develop into anything further.

Gentle, Tooth-Colored Fillings

Checkups and New Patients – White Plains Family Dental

Dr. Alidadi only uses tooth-colored fillings.

We use tooth-colored composite fillings to fill your teeth. Not only are these more aesthetic, they are also healthier for your body than amalgam fillings. You won’t even notice Dr. Alidadi’s shots and her reassuring manner will put you completely at ease.

In many cases you won’t need a shot at all as Dr. Alidadi can use her dental laser rather than a drill to prepare the tooth for a filling, often making anesthesia unnecessary.

Warning signs of a serious dental problem

Dental problems aren’t usually painful. Patients who don’t visit a dentist regularly do not even realize they already have one or more dental problems. The best way to prevent these problems is to visit the dentist at least once every six months.

Signs of Oral Problems

  • Bad Breath
  • Loose Teeth
  • Bleeding Gums
  • Swollen, Tender and Red Gums

However, not all dental problems come with warning signs. And, unfortunately, patients who don’t get regular checkups do not know if they are at risk for serious dental problems, or if they’re already suffering from one.
