Having
a smile that you feel proud can be a huge boost to a person’s self-confidence. Cosmetic
dentistry includes the dental procedures aimed at improving the appearance of
your smile. With the advances in dentistry, getting the smile you want is well
within reach, so where do you start?
First Steps for Improving Your Smile
- Establish your smile goals – take a little time out to consider how you would like your smile to look. Try to find a couple of photos that illustrate the look you want. Aim high—you would be amazed at what can be done with today’s advances in dentistry.
- Choose a highly
skilled cosmetic dentist – find a dentist with excellent credentials. While there is no
official title of cosmetic dentist, the best cosmetic dentists are highly
trained and experienced in cosmetic dental procedures.
Top cosmetic dentists are members of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, which provides special education and training to its members to keep them up-to-date on the latest techniques. You should also choose a dentist who is committed to equipping the office with the latest technology.
- Schedule a consultation – schedule a meeting to find out about your options. Dr. Alidadi offers a free smile makeover consultation. During your visit, Dr. Alidadi will discuss your smile goals and do a thorough examination. She will evaluate your entire mouth, taking into account the health and appearance of your teeth. Based on her findings as well as your needs, she will discuss your options and explain what you can expect from various procedures.
Cosmetic Dentistry Options
We offer a full array of cosmetic dentistry procedures. Here are a few examples:
- Invisalign® teeth straightening – Would you like to have straighter teeth? Dr. Alidadi can straighten your teeth and enhance your smile affordably. Invisalign uses custom-made clear aligners that are nearly undetectable. Dr. Alidadi is an Invisalign Preferred Provider.
- Porcelain Veneers – A veneer is a very thin layer of porcelain that’s placed over the front of your tooth to change its color, shape or size. Veneers can hide stained, crooked or chipped teeth or they can close gaps between teeth.
- Dental Bonding – bonding is the application of high-grade composite material to the front of your teeth. Dental bonding is more economical than veneers, but not as long lasting.
- One-visit Crowns – to cover a broken or decayed tooth, Dr. Alidadi can create high-quality, durable, all-porcelain crowns—right in her office. No more temporaries are needed, no more waiting weeks for your permanent restoration to be made at the lab. Dr. Alidadi can provide you with custom, perfectly matched and perfectly fitted dental crowns, inlays and onlays — all in a single visit!
- Teeth whitening – Would you like your teeth to be whiter? the Teeth whitening systems that are sold over-the-counter fail to penetrate the teeth deeply enough to remove the discoloration caused by smoking tobacco, drinking coffee, or from age. Dr. Alidadi uses the KöR® Whitening Deep Bleaching System, which is considered the most effective way to permanently whiten your teeth.
- Dental Implants – If you have either missing teeth or teeth that are beyond repair, dental implants may be the best option. Implants are lifelike artificial teeth that allow you to eat, smile and talk naturally and comfortably. An implant is an artificial tooth root, made of titanium, which is topped with a crown, bridge or denture.
- Snap-on smile® – Snap-On Smile is an easy and affordable way to get a fantastic
smile. It fits right over your own teeth to give you a beautiful,
natural-looking smile. Snap-on Smiles can hide stains, chips, gaps or missing
teeth.

A dental crown is a tooth restoration that is placed over a decayed or damaged tooth to strengthen the tooth or improve its appearance. A dental crown covers the entire part of the tooth that is visible above the gumline.
Natural-looking, permanent crowns in one visit
As part of her commitment to providing outstanding dental care to her patients, Dr. Alidadi uses state-of-the art technology. Using the revolutionary computerized CEREC® (CEramic REConstruction) 3D system, Dr. Alidadi can provide custom, perfectly matched and perfectly fitted dental crowns in just one visit.
What is CEREC®?
CEREC is a breakthrough technology that uses 3-D imaging and milling technology that allows the dentist to create perfectly fitting, durable porcelain crowns that match your natural teeth. You no longer have to hassle with a temporary crown or wait weeks for your permanent restoration to return from a lab.
CEREC Procedure
The first thing Dr. Alidadi does is go through a color-matching process to choose a color that integrates with the rest of your teeth. She then makes a digital impression of your teeth using the Omnicam digital scanner. This is a virtual impression, so you don’t have to bite down on impression material or putty molds. The Omnicam scans precise 3D images of your teeth and gums in their natural color and send them to Dr. Alidadi’s 3D software.
Based on the 3D images provided by the Omnicam, Dr. Alidadi designs your crown on the CEREC system to create a new crown that matches perfectly with your other teeth and allows you to bite and chew comfortably.
Dr. Alidadi uses a block of high-quality porcelain to custom-mill your crown. Once your final crown is ready to be placed, Dr. Alidadi will make any needed modifications to your crown’s size, shape and color right there and then.

When it comes to keeping up with the latest advances in dentistry, not all dentists are alike. It takes genuine commitment on the part of the dentist to incorporate new technology and procedures into a practice. In addition to providing an office with the latest equipment, a dentist who uses state-of-the-art technology also takes the needed time to learn and practice advanced techniques.
Dr. Alidadi strives to provide the highest-quality dental care possible. She uses the latest, most minimally invasive procedures to give her patients a healthy, beautiful smile.
High-tech dentistry and its benefits
Here are some examples the advanced dentistry Dr. Alidadi uses to provide gentle and effective treatment:
Precise implant treatment and planning
Dr. Alidadi uses the Cone Beam Dental 3D CT Scanner to get 360° views of your teeth, jaws, sinuses and surrounding anatomical structures. The 3D composite image, which can be viewed from any angle and magnified, provides detail that no other form of X-ray can offer.
With this advanced technology Dr. Alidadi can accurately diagnose your dental situation and plan your treatment precisely as the images provided by the Cone Beam 3D CT scanner show the relationships between the bones, teeth, airways, nerves and tissues.
Lasers dentistry for gentle and effective treatment h4 – Dr. Alidadi uses different types of lasers to provide a variety of treatments. Laser dentistry makes dental procedures more comfortable. With the use of laser, procedures go faster, are is far less invasive, and cause much less post-treatment discomfort when compared with traditional methods involving a drill or surgery. Read more about laser dentistry.
In-Office CAD/CAM Dental Milling System for same-day restorations h4 – Dr. Alidadi usesthe CEREC (CERamic REConstruction) in-office CAD/CAM dental milling system to create and place durable and beautiful porcelain crowns, onlays and inlays (partial-coverage crowns). The entire procedure—from the digital impressions to the placement of the final restoration—can be done in a single visit. Read more
Digital X-rays h4 – Dr. Alidadi uses Dexis® Low-Dose Digital X-rays, which are high-speed X-rays that use 80% less radiation than ordinary X-rays. These X-rays produce nearly instantaneous images and allow Dr. Alidadi to examine fine details, such as early-forming cavities. Digital X-rays make treatment safer and faster than traditional X-rays.
Ultrasonic Cleanings
Ultrasonic scalers are used to remove hard mineral deposits, stains and tartar from the surface of your teeth as well as under the gums. Ultrasonic scalers vibrate at a high frequency to remove buildup without harming your teeth or causing any discomfort. Cleanings are more comfortable and tend to be faster with ultrasonic scalers.
Competent, gentle dental care
These are just a few of the many ways Dr. Alidadi uses advanced technology to provide effective and comfortable care to her patients. She has over 20 years of experience in different areas of dentistry—from cosmetic and restorative dentistry to root canal therapy and surgical treatments.

Laser-Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP) is an FDA-approved therapy that effectively fights moderate to severe gum disease. This revolutionary procedure was developed by Dr. Robert H. Gregg, who wanted to create a better experience for patients in need of gum disease treatment. In the past, the only way to get rid of gum disease was by undergoing surgery with a scalpel. Thanks to LANAP, gum disease can be treated in a far gentler manner.
Minimally Invasive, Effective Gum Disease
Treatment
While LANAP and traditional
gum disease treatment share the aim of fighting gum disease, their approaches
are quite different. In traditional gum disease treatment, the goal is to
simply remove the diseased tissue.
LANAP involves the use of a precisely focused laser designed to remove the surface layer of diseased gum tissue without harming the healthy gum tissue. The laser promotes healing by using body’s own ability to seal the healthy gum tissue back to the root of the tooth once the procedure is complete.

Testimonial
“When I came to Dr.
Alidadi, my gums were in really bad condition. I had swelling, pain and
bleeding. Dr. Alidadi then recommended laser treatment. She had explained it
was less invasive and had quicker healing time than normal gum
surgery/treatment. Initially I was reluctant, but gave it a try.
“My treatment is now completed and I have no swelling, no pain and no bleeding. This sounds like a success story to me. I am truly pleased with the results. I sincerely thank Dr. Alidadi for the treatment and being very thorough when providing the laser treatment.”

More than 35 million Americans are missing all of their teeth in at least one jaw, and 69% of adults between the ages of 35-44 have already lost at least one permanent tooth. There is a tooth replacement option that can help you maintain a healthy smile and high quality of life for years to come—the dental implant.
What is a Dental Implant?
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that can be
used to replace one or more missing teeth as well as to stabilize a denture or
dental bridge. Once the implant is placed and integrates with the jawbone, a
crown or other restoration is permanently attached to it. Dental implants are
an excellent option for replacing teeth because they look, feel, and function
like natural teeth.
The
downward spiral of tooth loss
To understand what makes dental implants
an excellent tooth replacement option, let’s look at what happens when teeth
are missing.
Not only does having missing teeth detract from one’s appearance and
self-confidence, it also takes away the stimulation of biting and chewing that
are required in maintaining jawbone volume and density. As the bone deteriorates,
it can cause the face to appear shrunken and make a person appear older.
The
problem with removable dentures and fixed bridges
While fixed bridges and removable
dentures at least improve a person’s appearance, they have their own issues.
Removable dentures put pressure on the underlying jawbone, but it is not the kind of pressure needed to maintain bone volume in your jaw. The kind of pressure that traditional dentures place on the jaw actually accelerates bone loss and facial collapse.
Bone shrinkage over time makes it so that the dentures no longer fit as snugly as they once did, and they can begin to shift position or wobble when you chew or talk. Moreover, the instability makes it difficult, if not impossible, to eat certain foods. When nutrition is restricted, so too is overall health.
Fixed dental bridges have their own drawbacks. Bridges are attached to adjacent natural teeth, which need be filed down in the process. This weakens these teeth and can make them more susceptible to decay.
Advantages
of Dental Implants
Dental implants solve many of the
challenges caused by tooth loss without adding to the problems or creating new ones.
Here are some of the advantages that dental implants offer:
- Dental implants prevent bone loss – by allowing you to bite and chew as you would with a natural tooth, they provide the needed stimulation to maintain jaw bone density
- Dental implants are aesthetic and natural-looking – they are the most life-like tooth replacements and are designed to blend in with the rest of your natural teeth
- You can eat your favorite foods – dental implants provide the needed stability and chewing power to allow you to eat all the foods you love
- You can enjoy better oral health – because implants do not rely on other teeth for their support, there is no need to compromise any of your healthy teeth
- Dental Implants are convenient – you do not have to remove them for cleaning or apply messy adhesives to keep them in place
- You can enjoy a better quality of life – being able to laugh, talk, smile, and eat the foods you love without being self-conscious enhances your quality of life and overall health
- Dental Implants are long-lasting – they have a 95% success rate and when cared for properly, can last a lifetime
Does
every missing tooth need to be replaced with an implant?
Not necessarily. Some dentists offer
both implant-supported dentures and implant- supported bridges, which serve as an economical solution
to replacing teeth while still giving you many of the benefits dental implants
provide.

Invisalign
Clear Braces
When you think of
braces, you might picture a mouth full of metal wire and elastic bands. Thanks to Invisalign® clear braces, adults
and teens can now enjoy an effective alternative to traditional braces.
Invisalign consists of a series of clear plastic aligners that gradually move teeth into their correct position. Invisalign can help correct crooked, crowded, or gapped teeth as well as straighten out improper bite alignment.
Dr. Alidadi is a Preferred Invisalign Provider with many years of experience helping adults and teens attain beautiful smiles. She has found Invisalign to be an effective and economical treatment for teeth-straightening.
Why is Invisalign so popular?
Here are some of the reasons that people prefer Invisalign over conventional braces:
- Clear aligners are nearly invisible
- No wires = less mouth irritation
- You can eat whatever you want since aligners are removable
- Keeping teeth clean is easier
- Aligners can be removed when needed
- Fewer doctor visits

Gum disease, also known as periodontal disease, is the build-up of bacteria in the mouth which can cause the gums to become swollen, sore and infected. When left untreated, the bacteria can eat away at the surrounding tissue and eventually result in tooth loss and other health issues.
To help patients combat gum disease and prevent tooth loss, Dr. Alidadi uses a highly effective and minimally invasive treatment called LANAP® (Laser-Assisted New Attachment Procedure).
What is LANAP?
LANAP involves the use of a soft tissue dental laser to effectively treat the infected gum area and eliminate the bacteria without harming the healthy tissue. Once the diseased tissue has been removed and the affected disinfected, the laser gently seals the nerve endings to help regenerate healthy gum tissue and promote healing.
Benefits of Laser Treatment for Gum Disease
Laser treatment has many benefits compared to traditional methods:
- Involves no scalpel or sutures
- Targets the diseased tissue
- Stimulates the tissue’s natural healing capabilities
- Gives better and longer-lasting results
- Most patients are able to eat right after the procedure
- Less than 24-hour recovery period
- Safe for patients with health concerns such as diabetes, HIV, hemophilia, or for those taking medications such as Plavix or aspirin.
Am I a candidate for Laser Gum Disease Treatment?
The first step is to come in and see Dr. Alidadi so
that she can determine whether you are a candidate for LANAP. This includes
getting digital X-rays of your mouth. Dr. Alidadi will take the time to sit
down with you, go over your situation, and listen to your concerns. She will
determine the best treatment option.

When the tissue inside a tooth has become infected, root canal treatment may be needed to save the tooth and prevent the infection from spreading to other parts of the tooth or jaw. The procedure involves removing the infected tissue, cleaning the canal, and then sealing it off.
Most people don’t exactly jump for joy at the thought of having a root canal. Traditional root canal therapy uses drills to remove infected tissue and strong chemicals, such as bleach, to disinfect the canal.
Today root canal treatment can be far gentler, faster and more accurate. If you have a dentist like Dr. Alidadi, who stays on top of cutting-edge technology, then you are in luck.
What is laser root canal therapy?
Since the early seventies, laser technology in dentistry has made great strides. Advances in fiber optics have resulted in lasers that are thinner, yet more durable, and more precise than their predecessors. Studies have shown that these lasers can eliminate bacteria that could not be reached using traditional methods.
The Waterlase® system
Dr. Alidadi uses the FDA-approved Waterlase® laser. Unlike the drill, Waterlase does not apply heat, vibration, or pressure—the things that can cause bruising and trauma in traditional root canal treatment. This makes the procedure gentler, faster, and more accurate, and reduces healing time. Dr. Alidadi can usually provide root canal therapy in a single visit.
Do I need a root canal?
Over 15 million Americans a year receive root canal treatment. Here are some signs indicating that you may need a root canal.
- mild to severe tooth pain
- sensitivity to cold or heat
- swelling of the gums
- pain when chewing or putting pressure on a tooth
- pain radiating out from the tooth to the jaw, head, ear, etc.
As some people do not experience these symptoms, regular checkups are vital to preserving your teeth. Make an appointment with Dr. Alidadi. She will do a thorough examination to determine whether you need root canal therapy.

Why Go to a Family Dentist?
While a dental specialist focuses on a single area of dentistry, a family dentist has advanced knowledge and expertise in a wide range of dental services. Here are some of the advantages offered by a family dentist:
- Provides comprehensive dental care under one roof
- Allows convenient (and multiple) scheduling of family members
- Promotes child-friendly treatment and preventative care
- Eliminates the need to switch dentists as kids get older
- Familiarity and strong relationships are built between dentist and patient
Keeping your whole family smiling
With over 20 years of experience providing family dental care, Dr. Alidadi and our friendly staff offer gentle, comprehensive care for the entire family. As a family dentist, Dr. Alidadi understands the various ins and outs of treating people of all ages.
Reducing dental anxiety

Whether treating a child, adult, teen or senior citizen, Dr. Alidadi is excellent at talking to patients and putting them at ease. She explains what is going to happen so they know what to expect.
Gentle, minimally invasive treatment
What dental anxiety really boils down to is fear of pain. Dr. Alidadi always strives to use the most minimally invasive treatment possible. She has kept up-to-date on various dental procedures and equipped the practice with the latest technology. This includes low-radiation X-rays, precision diagnostic tools to reduce time in the chair and laser treatments to combat tooth decay, which helps eliminate the need for shots or anesthesia.
Early diagnosis and prevention
Children benefit from early diagnosis and prevention. One of the tools Dr. Alidadi uses to accomplish this is DIAGNO®dent, a pen-shaped instrument that detects the earliest stages of tooth decay so that it can be treated before it becomes a larger problem. Dr. Alidadi and our staff also take the needed time to teach kids how to properly care for their teeth.
Orthodontics for teens and adults
Dr. Alidadi provides Invisalign® clear teeth straightening treatment to adults or teens who have attained full dentition and complete jaw growth. As a Preferred Invisalign Provider, she is highly experienced at offering care tailored to your individual needs.
Experienced dentistry for seniors
Although age is not the only factor that determines oral health, as a senior, your teeth may require a little extra care. Some seniors may be at greater risk of certain gum and tooth problems. Dr. Alidadi has spent over two decades treating seniors and helping them maintain a healthy and functioning smile.
